The 14th Potsdam Tanztage, from 19 to 30 May 2004 at the fabrik Potsdam, will present different tendencies and trends in contemporary dance, ranging from narrative to abstract approaches. The focus here is on innovative, new ideas that nevertheless have a high entertainment value for the audience. The concept is based on an overall composition of the programme that spans an exciting, multifaceted dramaturgical arc for the festival. In addition, numerous workshops, performances and discussions will facilitate encounters between the audience and companies.
The 14th Potsdamer Tanztage Festival is delighted to present the following companies:
The Quasar Dance Company from Brazil combines the mood and atmosphere of their homeland with complex contemporary choreographies in a humorous yet virtuoso way.
The company Käfig is the leading hip-hop company in France and combines hip-hop with contemporary dance in impressive images.
Zero Visibility Corp (Norway) show how breathtaking, exciting and at the same time deeply human a contemporary pas de deux can be.
Jordi Cortes and Damian Munoz, two protagonists of the Spanish dance scene, will use theatrical means to entangle themselves in a battle of man against man, head against stomach.
Roberto Castello and his ensemble from Italy will present a political piece in which text, music and dance come together and which has already caused a sensation in New York.
Heike Hennig, a young choreographer from Leipzig with international success, is currently developing a piece about power structures.
The company Paco Décina (France/Italy) will present a meditative piece in which the choreographer and his six dancers have created a miracle of dance composition.
The company Déjà Donné from Italy and the Czech Republic is known for the physical commitment and raw poetry of its productions.
One evening will be reserved for the short form with pieces by Benno Voorham (S), Amos Hetz (Israel) and others.
