This year, the 17th Potsdam Dance Days will offer an even more varied programme and an additional, unusual venue: a huge mirrored tent will become the festival's atmospheric lounge, where a successful evening of dance will glide into an unforgettable night. There are new venues and new formats to discover! This year's discoveries include the Señor Serrano company from Barcelona, the choreographer Serge Ricci from Paris, the hip hop spectacle by Accrorap with dancers from France and Algeria and the energetic dancer from Cameroon Merlin Nyakam. But internationally established groups such as Zero Visibility Corp (N) and Mal Pelo (E) are also on the programme. We are eagerly awaiting two new formats: ‘12 pieces for Gertrud’, an evening of surprise pieces in the form of an open stage for performance, and ‘3 solos, 3 continents’, an evening between tradition and modernity with choreographers from Canada, Hungary and Burkina Faso.
The 3rd Children's and Youth Dance Days also present themselves with a special programme: In addition to five workshops especially for children and young people (e.g. ‘Hip Hop’ or ‘Contact with Children’), the current programme also includes selected dance pieces with an introduction for schoolchildren for the first time. A highlight in the middle of the festival is the family festival ‘Little fish, big fish’, where everyone from the little ones to the grown-ups can dance, watch and be amazed! We are particularly looking forward to singer-songwriter Robert Metcalf and his hands-on concert in the spiegeltent for all fidget spinners aged 4 and over and to the dance performances by Noëlle Dalsace (F) and Silvia Ospina (CO).
Bands and DJs from Potsdam, Berlin and even Scandinavia will provide the right music and atmosphere late at night. Colourful and stylish dance events to watch and join in are the Swing Ballroom in the style of the Golden Twenties with dance instructions or the African Ball with the ‘dance magician’ Merlin Nyakam: dancing, singing and rousing rhythms... And, of course, the possibilities of the moving body will be rediscovered every day from morning to evening in the fabrik halls - ‘Modern Dance with Tai-Chi Dao-Yin Technique’ or ‘Dance // Video’ are just two of the twelve workshops from the varied programme.
