Every year, the Potsdamer Tanztage festival offers the Potsdam audience a top-class international spectrum of different forms of dance theatre and attracts growing audience interest year after year. Since 1991, the festival has established itself as an outstanding international artistic highlight in Potsdam and remains unique in the state of Brandenburg. The 18th Potsdamer Tanztage festival will take place for the 18th time from 15 to 25 May 2008. The performances form the centrepiece of the festival: in 2006, 21 companies and 16 workshop teachers and choreographers from 11 countries presented their artistic work. In addition, workshops are offered by the invited artists and other teachers, which are aimed at both interested amateurs and professional dancers. The traditional Contact Jam takes place at Whitsun, with around 100 dancers from Germany and abroad taking part. Other elements of the festival include dance films, concerts and ‘Nighttalks’, which encourage discussions with dancers, choreographers and the audience after the performances.
