WS 07: Training for teachers

School as a creative moment | with Odile Seitz-Walser, Beate Vanden Branden, Johanna Simon (Berlin/Potsdam)

14 May 2025 | Potsdamer Tanztage 2025Dance and movement#Communities

Due to the current budget situation of the state of Brandenburg, we are currently still in the process of checking the recognition/certification of the training.

As soon as registration via the Brandenburg training network is possible, you will find this information here.

The training programme is open to teachers from any kind of school and of any subject, inviting them to explore what ‘dance’ can be and expand their perspective. What is dance and where does it begin? How can dance develop when the understanding of its diverse forms is broadened? Based on the structure of everyday school life, this fixed framework will be explored creatively and playfully to support the integration of movement, body awareness, and creative processes in school. Odile Seitz-Walser creates a space in which dance can be experienced as an artistic practice and its questions are researched. The participants experience methods they can use in their work. Everyday movements and situations at school can become dance and strengthen the personal and artistic expression of children and teenagers. In the afternoon, Beate Vanden Branden (arts teacher at Schulzentrum am Stern Potsdam|teacher trainer for the Brandenburg an der Havel education authority) and Johanna Simon (dance scholar|dance for young audiences/aesthetic education fabrik Potsdam) will provide impulses for diverse forms of collaboration between school and dance institution.
