Social media are no longer merely spaces for communication—they are political arenas. Algorithms amplify polarizing narratives, racist and discriminatory content spreads rapidly, while marginalized voices often remain invisible.
The #HASHTAG Workshop is a two-day creative art and media lab for young people who wish to critically reflect on their experiences with social media and artistically respond to these digital spaces. Through a collaborative process, we will examine how racist, exclusionary, or polarizing narratives emerge—and how we can creatively reinterpret, interrupt, or reframe them using texts, images, and short digital formats.
The workshop is led by Umut Azad Akkel (visual artist) and İrem Aydın (theater director & writer), combining artistic practice with collective reflection. The goal is to develop your own short works (e.g., videos, poetic texts, or visual formats) that critically, personally, and experimentally engage with digital culture.
The workshop is open to all young people aged 16 to 25 who are eager to work creatively and explore social media from a new perspective. No prior experience is required.
The workshop will be conducted in German and English.
To participate, please send us a short text about yourself (maximum one page) to lubunyaplanet@gmail.com.
Participation is free of charge.
Works created during the workshop may later become part of a curated online presentation.
