Corps à Corps is about dance mediation based on participatory, dance-based working methods that are suitable for people of all ages. The training focusses on the questions, challenges and possible answers that arise for dance mediators.
Dance education is still often based on reproduction and the specification of style and aesthetics, often in hierarchical structures. However, dance in particular has immense aesthetic and creative potential due to the human "material", the diversity of bodies and personalities. Every person can develop their own highly individual sense of forms and lines, which can result in their own movement patterns and their own movement language, regardless of age.
This process constitutes the experience of dance as a complete art form. Dance that is created in this sense, in individual and collective working methods, is always new and surprising.
With Corps à Corps #0, Kathi and Ludo give an insight into their participative and intergenerative working practice, which they have been developing for over 25 years with dancers aged 2 to 60. They share the following elements:
- Comprehensive functional movement training, without aesthetic guidelines, to train basic movements such as standing, falling, rolling, turning, jumping.
- Individual movement impulses for working through space, for coordination, endurance and strength
- Collective movement impulses for working in space as a group
- Work with materials such as sheets, ropes etc. to deepen movement patterns that have already been established
- Work with guided and free improvisation, with and without contact
- Music as an impulse
This training is aimed at dance professionals, teachers and people who work with movement and dance in a professional context.
