An elevated, circular stage – surrounded by two rows of chairs, each with a pair of headphones. A binaural sound that places the audience completely at the centre of spatial awareness of breath, sound and music. Noises that become visual experiences. Within this setting and inspired by the story of the Virgin Mary, the Spitfire Company shows the moments of shock as well as the arduous acceptance, when a young girl’s body has become home to a new being. The ritual transformation of a girl to a woman, as well as the descent into the depths of her loneliness, is thus revealed.
Spitfire Company is currently considered to be one of the most progressive ensembles in Czechia. It is an open platform for physical and visual theatre, music, and dance theatre. The company has held guest performances of its productions at a host of international festivals and received numerous prizes, including The Scotsman Fringe First Award last year at Edinburgh’s Fringe Festival.
