Dance and Jazz: KUDOKU / TIDE

Inspired by buddhist rituals, Kudoku explores physic and phonetic possibilities of expression. How can music release bodies? Until where can we go? Energetic, rythmic and improvised, the movement flows through the variable sound architecture, where saxophone, voices and drums meet each other. Daniele Ninarello and Dan Kinzelman create a sound landscape, which creates a bridge between body and mind. Kudoku was awarded by a price at the prestigious Festival Biennale Danza 2016 in Venice and was selected the following year for the international dance platform Aerowaves –Dance across Europe. 

In TIDE, two bodies move around each other on the stage. From this, a delicate game between dance and music emerges. Listening to each other, watching each other and echoing each other, Bára Sigfúsdóttir and Eivind Lønning create a sensual experience that leaves space for fantasy. The dance moves in and out on different rhythms of the trumpet, like ebb and flow, sound and movement pull and push through time. Bára Sigfúsdóttir took part of the Artists in Residence program of fabrik Potsdam in 2017 with the Iranian dancers Masoumeh Jalalieh and Seyed Alireza Mirmohammadi. The resulting dance piece, Being, was presented for the first time in Germany during the festival Made In Potsdam 2018. Eivind Lønning created the music for this piece.
