The companies VAYA (Freiburg) and 101 concrete Kompanie (Potsdam) offer insights into their artistic practice and share approaches drawn from contemporary dance, new circus and acrobatics. The focus is on various forms of partnering – from lifts, counterbalances and leaning techniques, through games, to dragging and dynamic floor exercises.
VAYA is a freelance contemporary dance company based in Freiburg, led by Tina Halford, which was founded in 2017. It produces and creates its own pieces, which are performed at international festivals and venues. The 101concrete company was founded in Potsdam in 2020 and creates pieces at the intersection of Art du Déplacement/Parkour, contemporary dance, Lindy Hop and acrobatics.
