In April 2017, Q3Ambientfest celebrated its premiere at fabrik Potsdam. The three-day boutique music festival, founded and carefully curated by the brothers Sebastian and Daniel Selke, also known as the award-winning Potsdam cello-piano duo CEEYS, is dedicated in particular to neoclassical and experimental music. The open-minded music lover is invited to get to know a handpicked selection of established and rising contemporary musicians and composers.
The festival also aims to create a special interface between music from the avant-garde to pop and Potsdam's diverse historical architecture, from neoclassical castles to GDR prefabricated buildings. The name Q3A is an abbreviation for the so-called "Querwandbau" from GDR times.
This year's festival will take place again from 12 - 14 April 2019 at fabrik Potsdam and in cooperation with the Dutch music initiative Fluister, Piano & Coffee Co., Traurig Und Untanzbar, Klavins Piano Manufaktúra Kft., SOMA Laboratory, and Brudenell Piano Sessions, near the world-famous film city of Potsdam-Babelsberg, just under an hour from Berlin. It is also part of the Piano Day, an annual worldwide event and platform for piano related projects founded by a group of like-minded people around pianist and composer Nils Frahm, celebrated on the 88th day of the year, the number of keys of the instrument.
So far 31 artists from 12 different countries have been guests in Potsdam.
