LAPIDAR

In its architectural expression the built city is always a reflection of social processes and thus a testimony to urban culture. The quarter at the Plantage in the center of Potsdam is an example of this, central to the debate on the reconstruction of the city in the Prussian tradition and the preservation of GDR architectural culture. The exhibition LAPIDAR focuses on building fragments. Found objects, remnants or facade elements that were and are characteristic of Potsdam's cityscape. The exhibition reflects the disappearance of architecture, its spaces and their pictorial works. Artists from Potsdam's creative scene as well as selected positions of works from private and public art collections come together as multi-layered insights in a transformation of the cityscape.
