Desires that the mind has perhaps already written off, conflicting feelings and suspicions, pain, fear, and hope: the choreography by Medhat Aldaabal and Davide Camplani describes the stressful state in "between" that characterizes the process of people arriving in a new society. "Amal", Arabic for hope, climbs onto the shoulders of the four dancers in the form of a boy and sets them in motion again and again with gentle austerity... Accompanied by percussionist Ali Hasan, they find individual poetic images for the space between past and future.
In February 2016 a weekly dance workshop with unaccompanied Syrian minors, Syrian dancers and dancers of the Compagnie Sasha Waltz & Guests took place. Based on the idea and initiative of Medhat Aldaabal, five dancers of this group developed the piece together with Davide Camplani.
