The wind rises

Manuel Roque (Montréal)

31 May – 01 Jun 2026 | Potsdamer Tanztage 2026Dance / performance

For Manuel Roque, the body is the fundamental instrument through which the world is experienced. Following bang bang, presented in 2018, he returns to Potsdam with a stripped-back solo that is equally physical. In constant motion, he presents a deeply sensual work between resistance and surrender to the forces that set him in motion.

Set to a hypnotic soundtrack, the body whirls and seeks to anchor itself within an empty space. It loses and regains his bearings, wavering through real and imagined currents in search of new points of stability. The work echoes the contemporary gusts that unsettle our certainties, in pursuit of a liberating momentum. At the same time, it stands as a tribute to the forces of nature - uncontrollable and exhilarating, if one learns how to follow them and to experience them in the immediacy of the senses.
