"I'm particularly interested in how a group of people becomes a team, how trust and intimacy emerge within it, and what possibilities this can create for both the individual and society." Patricia Carolin Mai

HAMONIM / המונים

Patricia Carolin Mai (Hamburg)

19 – 20 Sep 2025 | Grand Season Opening 2025Dance / performance

A large group can generate strength, create momentum, set things in motion. But what happens to the individual within that crowd? In the participative performance HAMONIM, Partricia Carolin Mai brings local dance enthusiasts onto the stage. Together, they form a living landscape of bodies that explores the dynamics of being together – while simultaneously challenging common ideas about mass phenomena.

Without any music, a soundscape emerges from silence: the only noise comes from the movement of bodies in motion. The audience witnesses dancers moving in isolation, approaching one another, forming groups – until a dense, collective mass takes shape. This mass shifts between chaos, synchrony, imitation, and repetition. HAMONIM examines the protective mechanisms within a group and poses a central question: What does it take to exist and endure within a community – without losing oneself…

Afterwards on Fri 19 Sep: Maggie's Farm unplugged concert (free admission)
Afterwards on Sat 20 Sep: DJ Bugazza Boy (free admission)
