With more than 100 performances in France, Portrait is an essential piece in Mehdi Kerkouche's young career. Child of television, image, and advertising, who has worked with big names in pop music such as Christine and the Queens, he presents this virtuoso dance and touching family portrait in Germany for the first time.
At first, the audience sees a seemingly harmonious group, reminiscent of a black and white family photo. But the picture soon comes to life and reveals the complex reality of the characters. Behind the facade, everyone lives with the same insecurities, joys, sorrows, and losses. How do you find your place in a group and free your true identity? Portrait shows how the body escapes from a narrow, defined framework to find the liberating power of expression. The nine dancers take turns to unfold their vibrant personalities – a surprising snapshot of today's family through a mosaic of temperaments and energies.
Recommended from the age of 10.
