Inspired by the El Rocío pilgrimage in Spain, Los Inescalables Alpes is a literal journey that sweeps you away like an adventure, a tragedy. Accompanied by live music and vocals, La Chachi unleashes her unique talent for a radically contemporary flamenco – theatrical, rebellious and uncompromising.
On the way to the “unreachable Alps”, the body is transformed through penance. It pleads, writhes, falls to the ground. Three musicians sing the urgent prayer “Todo Empezó una Mañana” while La Chachi takes over the entire stage in a powerful and beguiling solo. In a frenzy of dance, she gives free rein to her inner cry, characterised by an ecstatic physicality. A body in search of redemption, struggling between krump and flamenco, emancipating itself. With Los Inescalables Alpes, La Chachi confirms her special place in the avant-garde of flamenco – alongside great artists such as El Niño de Elche, Israel Galván, and Rocío Molina, who are breaking up and reinventing the genre.
Awarded the GODOT Prize 2022 for the best dance piece by the Madrid art magazine GODOT.
