Lisa Colette Bysheim and Edith Strand Askeland are in top form. Dressed in sportswear, they show their skills to pulsating live techno: repetitive, almost restless movements with their arms, legs and eyelids. Initially emotionless, the duet gradually develops a captivating power – the exploration of the other becomes an intimate encounter, the poses become embraces.
Inspired by the mating rituals of tbirds and human codes of flirting, the two women create a strong play of power and transformation – a satirical examination of the objectification of the female body. Two ‘birds of paradise’ in a serious parade in which seduction, attraction, and curiosity lead to unexpected confrontations. Blue Carousel is a playful, suggestive piece that humorously questions social norms and challenges the absurdity of the unexpected.
Blue Carousel was selected for Aerowaves 2025.
