Potsdamer Tanztage 2020

International Festival for Contemporary Dance

12 – 24 May 2020

Dear dance!

This year the Potsdamer Tanztage celebrate their 30th edition under the motto "Dear Dance".

An unusual time for an anniversary and a dialogue with the dance but also an incentive. Incentive despite or perhaps even because of the current difficulties to let the festival take place in a changed form. For 30 years the Potsdamer Tanztage has been in dialogue with dance, with all the friction, inspiration, challenges and enthusiasm.

This year we want to say a lot to the dance in particular... and hear what it has to tell us.

Due to the current restrictions we have decided to postpone the performances of the festival to August 2020 and the workshops to August and October 2020.

Not all artists will be able to come to Potsdam in this new period. We will therefore inform you by the end of April about the program that will be possible at that time.

The Potsdamer Tanztage have established themselves since 1991 as an outstanding international artistic highlight in Potsdam and remain unique in the state of Brandenburg. In the meantime, the festival has become the largest performing arts festival in Brandenburg. Every year the programme invites dance companies from all over the world to Potsdam and thus offers an internationally top-class spectrum of different dance theatre forms. For twelve days, the state capital of Brandenburg becomes the stage for the international dance scene.

The performances form the core of the festival: solo works and large ensembles, narrative dance theatre and pure movement, plays for children and unusual performances alternate in a rich programme. The aim is to present the diversity of the current international dance scene, which is characterised by its high level of creativity. A special focus of the festival is the closeness between audience and artists. The festival therefore includes workshops for interested laymen and professional dancers, as well as discussions with artists, which after the performances encourage exchange with dancers, choreographers and the audience. Concerts, dance films, installations, DJs complete the programme and invite you to linger in the Schiffbauergasse.

With performances by a.o.:
Yasmeen Godder (Tel Aviv-Jaffa)
Eun-Me Ahn (Seoul)
Gilles Jobin (Geneva)

The programme of the workshops will be published online end of February 2020. The programme of the performance will be published online end of March 2020.
